Oak Tree Festival Raises Over $128,000!
"What recession?" you might ask, when you learn that the 2010 Oak Tree Festival was a whopping financial success, raising $128,379.50 for St. Dorothy's Catholic Church. Festival Chairman Michael Allawos tallied it all up and reported the good news just five days following Sunday night's close of the exciting three-day event. Thousands turned out over a perfect springtime-weather weekend to enjoy the Festival's food, music, rides, and games. On Saturday and Sunday, bingo lovers crowded the parish hall to try their luck, as members of the Knights of Columbus ran up and down the aisles to sell bingo pull-tab games and pay winners. With great bands playing to the gathered crowd all weekend long, Festival-goers had another memorable time at one of Glendora's top yearly events. While the weather stayed almost picturesque up until the end on Sunday night, it quickly changed on Monday morning with a rainstorm! Now, don't tell me that festival organizers ordered good weather as part of their event plan...there's only ONE explanation for that! :)
